自分たちの手で作品を作る。
そして、その作品を見たファンの方々に喜んでもらう。
それが私たち京都アニメーションが目指す作品作りです。

ファンの方に見て楽しんでもらうにはどうすればいいか。
日々試行錯誤を繰り返しながら作品作りに取り組むと同時に、ファンの方が受け止めてくれることを信じ、自分たちが届けたい映像作品を作っていく。
その作品作りの精神の最初にある作品が「ムント」シリーズです。

映像を作るに当たり監督の木上益治にたった一言「やってもらえるか」と尋ねると、二つ返事で「わかりました」と答えてくれました。

企画が動き出しましたが、その道のりはとても険しいものでした。
「自分たちで製作をし、作品を作り上げる」その言葉を実現するのは、とても大変でした。
初めてのことで、わからないことだらけの中、自分たちが何をやらなければいけないのか？ということをスタッフ自らが考え、いくつもの壁を越え、会社一丸となって「ムント」シリーズという作品が出来上がりました。

振り返ると、木上自身これから京都アニメーションのスタッフが成長していく未来像をしっかりと持っていたのだと感じます。

1本の作品を自分たちの手で作り上げることができる。
前へ進んでいく力が自分たちの中にある。
クリエイターが熱い気持ちを持ち続けることの大切さ、自分たちで作品を作り上げた事実をスタッフ全員で共有し、自信へとつなげていく。

この作品で培った「ものづくり」の遺伝子は若いスタッフへと受け継がれています。

「ムント」シリーズは、新しい時代を迎えた今、若い人たちにとっても力になる。
そんな作品であると、信じています。

この作品に関心を持ってくださる方に、スタッフの心の部分を感じていただければと思います。
そして、作品を見て感じたものを大切にしていただければ幸いです。

This, indeed, is what we aim for in Kyoto Animation's creation.

What could be the best way to entertain fans?
We always work sincerely while looking into ways to figure out this task. Still, simultaneously, with the belief that our fans realize our endeavor, we continue to create what we want to deliver toward people.
MUNTO series is above all of this spirit.

When we first planned to create this animation, we asked Yoshiji Kigami, the director of this work, simply with one phrase: " Could you do this with us? " And Kigami swiftly accepted with no hesitation.

Then the project launched; however, we had to go on a challenging trail.
To product only by ourselves and achieve the goal of creation-
A massive quandary had been standing in the way to materialize this.
Still being a novice and having little know-how to carry out the work, we thrived by considering desperately what we staff should do, then overcame many walls against us. Finally, we accomplished the MUNTO series with all of our company's efforts.

Looking back at that moment, we sense that Kigami had already envisioned the future image of Kyoto Animation.

-Appreciating the ability to create the whole work with no dependence
-Having the power to move forward
-Achieving confidence by sharing the importance of keeping the creator's enthusiasm and also realizing the fact that the completion of creativity by ourselves—

—By producing MUNTO, and with the above factors, we believe that the creative gene has been come down to the young creators.

At this new era's emergence, we sincerely believe that the MUNTO series is an animation that will provide huge power to youngsters.

We hope these of our minds will be delivered to all who became interested in this animation.
And we would be very happy if people could keep the feelings that emerged through watching this work preciously in one's heart.
